Sai Samsthan YWCA
2010
With the grace of Shiridi Sai Baba, a few of the devotees came together to start Thursday Aarthi’s in late 2009. They took turns in hosting the Thursday Aarthi’s. They longed for a dedicated place for Sai Baba in central Illinois where all the Sai Devotees can come together on a regular basis. A place where all the 4 Aarthi’s can be performed to Sai Baba like Shiridi. Volunteers contacted Chicago Sai Mandir for guidance in starting the Sai Mandir, while looking for a temporary place for Thursday Aarthis. Chicago Sai Mandir agreed to the request to make Central Illinois Sai Samsthan as a chapter of Sai Samsthan USA.
During auspicious Shri Rama Navami event in 2010, the news was announced to the devotees. Being helped the local Sai volunteers focus on raising funds for the Land as well as receive guidance on puja’s and how to organize the mandir activities. In April 2010 devotees have started organizing thursday pujas at YWCA in a small hall. Eventually the devotee count grew big enough that the volunteers had to move the puja to the Gym hall in YWCA.

Sai Samsthan Bhoomi Puja
2012
Volunteers and devotees enthusiastically participated in Thursday arthi’s at the YWCA irrespective of the weather. Festivities were performed similar to the Sai Mandir in Shiridi. Money was raised to purchase Sai Mandir land at 407 Bronco Drive for 148K in 2012. Bhumi Puja for the land was performed on the newly purchased land in August of 2012. Order was placed to sculpt Sai Baba Vigraham in April 2014.
Sai Volunteers actively worked on raising money while applying for a new organization (Sai Samsthan of Central Illinois) as well as registering for the non-profit with the IRS. SSCI received IRS non-profit status in Feb 2015. Volunteers worked with Sai Samsthan USA to transfer the land deed to the SSCI organization and funds were transferred in April 2016. Construction of the Sai Mandir began in Aug 2016 utilizing the amount collected from the devotees as well as an additional loan amount of 325K from Busey Bank.
